Principal Investigator
Yanan Dai
Yanan is an assistant professor in the department of physics, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). He obtained his B.S. degree in physics at Shandong university in 2013, and Ph.D. degree in physics at The University of Pittsburgh in 2019. Before joining SUSTech in Aug. 2022, he worked as a postdoctoral research scientist in the department of chemistry at the Columbia University. His research interests include Poincaré engineering of surface plasmons, topological plasmons, excited state dynamics, and the development of novel ultrafast spectromicroscopies. His Ph.D. thesis was awarded as the outstanding dissertation by the International Organization of Chinese Physicists and Astronomers (OCPA).

Graduate Students
Minghong Sun
Based on pump-probe techniques, ultrafast spectroscopy methods such as transient reflection spectroscopy and time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr effect are used to characterize the dynamics of quasiparticles like carriers and phonons in alternating magnets and charge density wave materials.
Peng Tan
Peng is currently working on transient reflection spectroscopy.
Qian Chen
Qian Chen’s research interests revolve around the generation and ultrafast dynamics of optical vortices in surface plasmons, with a special focus on shaping the spatiotemporal properties of these vortices.
Haoqiang Hu
